Helping
Parents Love

“It was overwhelming to see all the faces on the first call and realize we are not alone on this journey with our child.”

Helping Parents Love is a faith-based support initiative for Christian parents with LGBTQ children. Using the Parenting LGBTQ Kids curriculum, parents join a virtual group that meets for 3 months in weekly 90-120 minute Zoom meetings. Each group is led by two married couples or single parent facilitators who guide the group through the curriculum. These facilitators will foster a safe and confidential space where participants can share vulnerably without fear of judgment. To help all families feel represented, each group will have both a facilitator with an LGB kid and a facilitator with a trans/nonbinary kid.

New groups launch August 25, 2025!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I join a group even if I’m not the parent of an LGBTQ child?

You must be the parent, grandparent, legal guardian, or primary caregiver of an LGBTQ child in order to join a group.

Helping Parents Love is a curriculum-based support group, not a therapy group. Our peer facilitators are not licensed counselors or trained experts; they are seasoned parents with a loved one who identifies as LGBTQ or who experiences same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria. The purpose of our groups is not for any of us to share expert advice, but for each participant to share our own family’s experience.

Yes, confidentiality is absolutely essential to these groups. Maintaining strict confidence—including promising not to repeat anything about who takes part or what is said in groups—is crucial to protect ourselves and our loved ones. During Zoom meetings, participants use private spaces in our homes where others outside the group cannot see who is on the call or hear what is being said. The recording of Zoom sessions is prohibited.

We don’t champion or demonize political positions and leaders, and we don’t debate controversial cultural issues. We choose not to view our children, their partners and peers, or their supportive communities as the enemy.” We recognize that we do indeed have an Enemy” who is both a deceiver and an accuser, but we do not fight against flesh and blood” (Eph. 6:12).

In all questions about theology and biblical understanding, we defer to the views of The Center for Faith, Sexuality, and GenderTheir Statement of Faith and Statement of Marriage, Sexuality & Gender are available here.

No, the Helping Parents Love experience is a flat rate price of $179 even if you have already purchased the curriculum. Your 18 month subscription will begin at the start of your HPL meetings.
